GLP-1 therapy associated with reduced breast cancer risk

Dr Elizabeth McDonald talks to ecancer at ASCO 2026 about findings from a large observational study evaluating the association between GLP-1 receptor agonist use and breast cancer incidence in women undergoing breast imaging.
The analysis found that GLP-1 use was associated with a significantly lower incidence of breast cancer after adjusting for age, race, ethnicity, BMI, breast density, and type 2 diabetes status.
The findings support further investigation of incretin-based therapies as a potential strategy for breast cancer prevention in prospective clinical trials.
